Susan's debut CD, SHOES, and her musical tribute to math facts, SKIPPING ROUND THE MOON, received 2005 National Parenting Publications Awards (NAPPA.) Susan's CD, EARTH SONGS won a 2006 Parents Choice Recommended Award as well as a NAPPA Honor's Award. All of these awards recognize the cross-generational appeal of the music and stories, as well as their joyful balance of entertainment and learning. Susan is delighted to have been selected.

By the end of a performance, Susan will have children and adults alike singing along to the bright and varied accompaniment of her violin, guitar, mountain dulcimer, and banjo, breaking along the way to tell a story or recite a poem. Name a topic or theme, and Susan will draw together the songs and stories to explore it.

Whether her audience numbers in the tens or hundreds, and whether the faces are young or old, Susan always tailors her programs to involve her audience. Common to all of her performances is Susan’s trademark sense of humor and optimism, and her conviction that music has the power to broaden people’s understanding of the world around them.
